Daily challenge
of safety
in operations

PEOPLE
Implemented for all plants and certified to ISO 45001 in 12 of them, the Integrated Management System (IMS) brings together several initiatives focused on occupational health and safety.

Accidents prevention | Monthly inspections to assess risks and procedures generate the Preventive Safety Index (PSI). The performance of each unit at the PSI is monitored continuously, and the best results are recognized, at the end of the year, with the CTG Brasil Safety Award.

Workers training | Since integration, everyone is trained in the guidelines for safe work, and each role has a specific grade of OH&S courses. To be able to carry out activities at the plants, everyone needs to be up-to-date with these training sessions and properly use personal protective equipment.

Contingency and crisis management plans | Formalized in the system, they define what measures to take in case of emergencies.

Accident investigation | It seeks to identify root causes for the continuous improvement of the management system.

Assessment of security risks | Occurs crosswise and includes procedures such as preliminary risk analysis and assessment of task criticality and programs such as 4Ps (Stop, Think, Prevent and Proceed) and Conte Comigo (“Count on me”).

Despite not recording accidents with its employees in the past two years, the zero accidents goal is still a challenge in the management of third parties. In November 2020, an accident at a civil construction site at Jupiá HPP led to the fatality of an outsourced worker. A Working Group (WG) was created shortly after the investigation of the accident was completed. Its members were removed from their daily activities for 30 days to thoroughly assess the management system policies, procedures and controls. All contractor management procedures were reviewed, as well as the criteria for the classification of high and critical risks and their approval by the Technical Committee.
