To guarantee the continuity of generation in its hydropower plants, CTG Brasil has installed protocols and safety measures since January, following the guidelines and learning from its headquarters, which was already facing Covid-19. Administrative employees and part of the operational team were directed to remote work, reducing the number of people in the units.
One of the main measures for people who had to physically stay at the plants was the creation of two teams that took turns inside the plants while two others were isolated in inns or lodges within the plants. Every 15 days, these teams would replace each other. In order for the entire contingency plan to work, CTG Brasil established an information and data analysis routine that involved all hierarchical levels at the company. The creation of this structured network of connection strengthened the proximity between leaders and teams and was quickly absorbed as an improvement.
In 2020, CTG Brasil managed to reduce the number of forced stoppages in power generation equipment by 46.8% compared to 2019. This improvement is mainly related to two outstanding actions of the year: the dissemination of the Production Management System (PMS) and the strengthening of the culture of investigation and problem solving.
