CTG Brasil, one of the largest clean energy generators in the country, successfully concluded a series of Environmental Education Workshops from July 7th to 10th, 2025, aimed at communities surrounding its hydroelectric plants on the Paranapanema River. Themed “Management and Monitoring of Surface Waters,” the initiative was part of the company’s Environmental Education Program (PEA) and aimed to strengthen local communities’ knowledge and engagement in the preservation of water resources.
During the meetings, participants learned about the results of the Participatory Socio-Environmental Assessment (DSAP), conducted by CTG Brasil in the mapped regions, in addition to gaining practical experience related to water quality management and water monitoring. The workshops were held in the cities of Chavantes (São Paulo), Ourinhos (São Paulo), Porecatu (Paraná), and Teodoro Sampaio (São Paulo), with a total of over 115 participants.
In Chavantes, the activity took place at the Wadia Mansur Cultural Center and brought together 12 participants; in Ourinhos, it was held at the Department of Environment and Agriculture and brought together 40 people; in Porecatu, the meeting in the Parish Hall brought together 42 participants; and in Teodoro Sampaio, the event was held in the City Council auditorium and brought together 21 people.
The free workshops, open to the public, encouraged local protagonism in environmental conservation, fostering dialogue and collaborative action between residents and experts. For CTG Brasil, environmental education is a strategic tool for strengthening the relationship between communities and rivers.
“We believe that environmental education and community engagement are fundamental to building a more sustainable future. With these workshops, we seek to empower residents to become agents of change in their own territories,” highlighted Eduardo Pereira, Environmental Analyst at CTG Brasil.
