The CTG Comunica is a strategic two-way communication tool created to train and alert internal and external audiences about routine and emergency situations at our plants. The innovative platform gathers information on processes, systems and safety actions related to the operation of our plants. One of the main objectives of the CTG Comunica is to provide assistance for the population around the hydropower plants – mainly those residing in risk areas – about the operation in normal, extreme and even emergency scenarios. As for the internal public of CTG Brasil, the tool will allow the operator to know in detail the occupation of the areas below the project and evaluate the effects of the release of water from the dams.

Have you ever heard of the golden mussel? Despite seeming harmless, this species of mollusk is extremely harmful to the energy generation system. This is because it can clog pipes and equipment in hydroelectric and supply facilities. With the help of biotechnology, we intend to develop a methodology for measuring mussel infestation, a model of population dynamics and super-mendelian inheritance, in addition to obtaining a genetically modified infertile adult mussel, thus neutralizing its reproductive capacity.

Macrophytes are aquatic plants that provide food, shelter and a place to reproduce for many animal species, but they can also cause damage to the environment, humans and energy generation. In partnership with SENAI ISI Biomass, we are developing an automated system for real-time monitoring of macrophyte bank movements in reservoirs, using machine learning algorithms to interpret data from video cameras at strategic locations and interconnected underwater sensors (sonar and geolocator). This system is composed of the integration of alarms, monitoring and emergency action plans for macrophytes.

With this project, we intend to develop an intelligent system capable of monitoring, diagnosing the type and mitigating cavitation in a Francis turbine, acting through the injection of air to reduce unwanted effects, improve its performance and increase the operational flexibility of the turbine, guaranteeing stability in the generation energy and less wear and tear on the equipment.

This technology has grown more and more in the world and to keep up with this trend, we are developing a business model for the commercialization of energy at electric vehicle charging stations, directly by the generation concessionaire, through the adaptation of charging stations and performance studies. A pilot application for transporting people and cargo is already underway around the Ilha Solteira and Jupiá HPPs.

Among the functionalities are: recognizing patterns, recalculating and executing routes, identifying leaks and wear, etc.

Capable of generating energy with direct radiation from the sun and reflected by the ground, the Pilot Solar Plant of Bifacial Modules is a project developed in partnership with the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC), UNESP Ilha Solteira and SENAI, through the Institute SENAI for Innovation in Renewable Energies (ISI-ER). The plant, with solar tracking and panels that rotate around an axis, includes two types of photovoltaic modules, in four different soils, so that performance conditions are studied throughout the seasons. Factors such as degradation, dirt, equipment operation in extreme irradiance and high temperature are evaluated, in addition to measurements of horizontal global irradiation, albedo, air temperature, relative humidity and wind speed. The result of the measurements will allow the realization of an implementation plan for future solar plants across the country, boosting the photovoltaic energy generation sector.

Aimed at the conservation of Brazilian biodiversity, we are developing studies to consolidate the technology for large-scale artificial propagation of Piracanjuba (Brycon orbignyanus) and mechanisms of sexual determination of the species, using biotechnology for reproduction by chimerism and gynogenesis in repopulation programs, optimizing thus the reproduction of this endangered species and the consolidation of environmental conservation strategies, which may in the future be adapted to other species.

The Water Intake Cleaning System is a project for the development of a new type of trash rack cleaner, sized for the depth of the reservoir, with the ability to divert aquatic plants or any other debris brought to the water intake beyond to remove incrustations that would cause clogs in the trash racks. The machine will be formed by an articulated arm to which a debris removal claw will be attached.

To control the encrustation of the golden mussel mollusk in hydroelectric plants, this project foresees the development of a prototype of a water heating system and a methodology for the intermittent application of temperature elevation in places where golden mussels (Limnoperna fortunei) accumulate in the water cooling system. The project will be an alternative to the chemical methods currently used, ensuring greater operational and environmental safety.

Based on artificial intelligence, a multi-port dc-dc converter is under development to integrate renewable energy generation with a green hydrogen plant and energy storage system. By joining the converter to an intelligent control device, based on artificial intelligence, it will be possible to make energy management decisions based on historical data, maximizing plant efficiency and reducing costs.

Focusing on the fuel of the future, in partnership with SENAI PR, SENAI RN, Sinapsis, Way2, EIDEE and Porto do Suape, we will develop a digital platform to map and commercialize green hydrogen with certification of origin. This platform is based on blockchain technology, and takes into account the generation, storage, transport and consumption chain with a focus on the national market. To verify the functionality of the platform, a pilot plant for generating H2V from the Port of SUAPE, in Pernambuco, will be used.
