Salto Grande HPP

Salto Grande Hydroelectric Power Plant is the oldest hydroelectric power plant in operation on the Paranapanema River and is located between the cities of Salto Grande (SP) and Cambará (PR).

Since its opening on April 28, 1958, the Salto Grande HPP has generated clean energy, contributed to the economy of the region, generated jobs, fostered industrial production and rail transportation. Currently, the plant has four Kaplan turbines, a water reservoir with total area of 11.5 km², and a 1,009 meter-long concrete dam.

Energy generation in 2022: 267,995.99 MWh

On average, this power station generated enough energy to supply a town with a population of some 92 thousand inhabitants.
