Ilha Solteira HPP

The Ilha Solteira Hydroelectric Power Plant is located in the Paraná River between the cities of Ilha Solteira (SP) and Selvíria (MS).

Located in the Paraná River, between the citis of Ilha Solteira (state of São Paulo) and Selvíria (state of Mato Grosso do Sul), Ilha Solteira HPP, together with Jupiá HPP, made up the fourth largest hydroelectric power complex in Brazil.

Start of operation: July 18, 1973
End of concession: April 18, 2047
CTG Brasil’s share: 67%


Energy generation in 2022: 10,055,450.35 MWh

On average, the plant generated enough energy to supply a city with about 3,4 million inhabitants.

An innovative project

Since June 2016, CTG Brasil has been responsible for the operation of Ilha Solteira HPP. This plant was a milestone in the history of hydroelectric dams in Brazil for its gigantic proportions. The project employed new construction techniques and has contributed, with clean energy, to the rapid growth of the industry and Brazilian cities in the last decades of the 20th century.

An innovative project

Since June 2016, CTG Brasil has been responsible for the operation of Ilha Solteira HPP. This plant was a milestone in the history of hydroelectric dams in Brazil for its gigantic proportions. The project employed new construction techniques and has contributed, with clean energy, to the rapid growth of the industry and Brazilian cities in the last decades of the 20th century.

Modernization

Since 2019, Ilha Solteira HPP has been in process of modernization, together with Jupiá HPP, in the largest project of plant modernization in progress in Brazil, involving an investment of R$3 billion. The initiative reinforces CTG Brasil’s long-term commitment to the country, contributes to the Brazilian energy sector, and increases the reliability of the plants, which have been generating clean energy for over 40 years.
