Managed by CTG Brasil, UHE Taquaruçu generates enough clean energy to supply a city of 780,000 inhabitants.

The Taquaruçu Hydropower Plant celebrated 30 years of operation this Sunday. Managed by CTG Brasil, one of the leaders in clean energy generation in the country, Taquaruçu HPP, with 525 megawatts, is the second largest hydroelectric plant on the Paranapanema River in terms of installed capacity – its energy is enough to supply a city with around 780,000 people. population.

Located between the municipalities of Sandovalina (SP) and Itaguajé (PR), Taquaruçu generates 100% clean energy through five turbines, which contribute to systemic supply security in the Southeast region. The plant also plays an important role in controlling the flow of the river, through nine gates.

“Taquaruçu HPP is of fundamental importance for the supply of clean energy to the National Interconnected System (SIN) and the balance of the Paranapanema river basin. We are happy to celebrate the milestone of this plant that has contributed so much to the development of the country and the future of the planet”, says Marcio Peres, Director of Generation Asset Management at CTG Brasil.
