Action is part of the company’s Ichthyofauna Management and Conservation Program, with the aim of repopulating and guaranteeing the diversity of fish of native species

CTG Brasil, one of the leaders in clean energy generation in the country, carried out this Tuesday, January 16, the release of 30 thousand fish of the painted species, in the reservoirs of the Ilha Solteira and Jupiá Hydroelectric Power Plants, both on the Paraná River.

The releases were carried out on the São José river bridge, in Ilha Solteira and Vila dos Operadores, in Jupiá, and are part of the Ictiofauna Management and Conservation Program, promoted by CTG Brasil with authorization from the Brazilian Institute of the Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (Ibama), with the aim of repopulating and ensuring fish diversity through the production and release of native species.

The fish used in the restocking program are produced at the CTG Brasil Pisciculture, in Salto Grande (SP). In the laboratory, in addition to fish production, research is carried out in partnership with universities.

“The release of fish from native species is a way of collaborating with the development of these ecosystems, guaranteeing reproduction and fishing stocks”, explains Norberto Castro Vianna, Environment specialist at CTG Brasil.

Since 2016, when the company took over management of the program, around 25 million fish have been released in the Paraná and Paranapanema river basins.
