CTG Brasil receives for the third consecutive year the gold seal of the Brazilian GHG Protocol Program

Selo is a national reference for measuring and managing GHG emissions. The company offsets 100% of direct greenhouse gas emissions related to its operations and is committed to being carbon negative in the coming years

CTG Brasil was recognized, for the third time, with the Gold Seal of the Brazilian GHG Protocol Program, a national reference for measuring and managing GHG inventories (greenhouse gases) of companies and governments. Recognition was earned for demonstrating compliance with all integrity and transparency criteria in the publication of GHG emissions data for 2021.

In Brazil, the program is developed by the Center for Sustainability Studies of the Getúlio Vargas Foundation (FGVces) and the World Resources Institute (WRI), in partnership with the Ministry of the Environment (MMA), the Brazilian Business Council for Sustainable Development (CEBDS), World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBSCD) and 27 founding companies.

Emissions compensation
CTG Brasil offset 100% of direct greenhouse gas emissions related to its operation in 2021 (scope 1) and indirect emissions related to the company’s consumption of electricity (scope 2). The amount compensated was 1,286 tons of CO2.

It is the third consecutive year that the company offsets emissions from all its operations considering these two scopes, thanks to its adherence to the Jari-Amapá REDD+ project. The initiative trains agroextractivist families in the Amazon to manage the forest in a sustainable way, in an area of 220,000 hectares in the Vale do Jari region. The company supports the project with the purchase of carbon credits.

“This seal is an important indicator of our efforts focused on the management of GHG emissions, where we can demonstrate, with complete transparency, the initiatives we have adopted in our daily lives and the way in which we offset greenhouse gas emissions” , says Simone Leite, specialist in the Environment.

With this result already consolidated and recognized by the market, the company is now working to achieve its ambition of becoming carbon negative in the coming years. To this end, it created a multidisciplinary working group to plan its next steps in this direction. “We are going to expand the scope of our emissions inventory and develop specific studies on the risks and opportunities of our business, given the context of climate change”, says Salete da Hora, director of Brand, Communication and Sustainability at the company. The goal is part of the ESG Platform, recently launched by the company.
