The action is part of the company’s “Ichthyofauna Management and Conservation Program, with the objective of repopulating and guaranteeing the diversity of fishes of species native to the river
CTG Brasil, one of the leaders in clean energy generation in the country, released 1.35 million fishes, of the pacu, curimbatá and lambari species, in the reservoirs of the Salto Grande, Canoas I and II, Chavantes, Taquaruçu, Rosana and Capivara plants , all of than operated by the company on the Paranapanema River.
The releases occurred in the municipalities of Salto Grande (SP), Bernardino de Campos (SP), Cândido Mota (SP), Porecatu (PR), Santa Cruz do Rio Pardo (SP), Siqueira Campos (PR) and Teodoro Sampaio (SP). The action was carried out by professionals from the company’s Environment area, and some releases had an educational nature, with the participation of children from public schools, such as in the municipalities of Salto Grande, Santa Cruz do Rio Pardo, Siqueira Campos and Teodoro Sampaio.
The releases are part of the Ichthyofauna Management and Conservation Program, carried out by CTG Brasil with the objective of repopulating and guaranteeing fish diversity through the production and release of native species. Releases are authorized by the Brazilian Institute for the Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (Ibama).
Fishes are produced in the CTG Brasil Fish Farm, in Salto Grande (SP). In the laboratory, in addition to fishes production, research is carried out in partnership with universities. Since 2016, when the company took over the management of the Program, more than 21 million fish have been released in the Paraná and Paranapanema river basins
