CTG Brasil, the second largest private power generator in the country, brings the National Ballet of China back to Brazil after nine years. Considered one of the most renowned dance companies today, Ballet of China presents two shows in Brazil – Red Lanterns and Swan Lake – in 12 performances in São Paulo (SP), Rio de Janeiro (RJ), Curitiba (PR) and Belo Horizonte (MG).
Brazilian company of Chinese origin, CTG Brasil seeks by means of this sponsorship, through the Law of Incentive to Culture, the promotion of Chinese culture locally. “Cultural diversity is in our DNA and generating knowledge about the country of origin of our company is very important for us. We want to promote the rapprochement between the two cultures, just as we have already done in the construction of our corporate culture”, says José Renato Domingues, corporate vice president of CTG Brasil.
Five years in the country, the company is part of China Three Gorges Corporation, the largest clean energy group in the world, present in 47 countries. The Brazilian operation is the most important of the Group outside China and accounts for 12% of the Group’s total revenues.
Founded in 1959, China’s National Ballet, based in Beijing, is the only state-owned ballet company in the country. Currently, it is considered by international specialized critics one of the most important in activity in the world. From its creation, its proposal was to preserve the tradition of the Chinese dance and to incorporate to the repertoire the great works of the western romantic ballet. The company brings in its DNA the dialogue between Eastern culture and Western classical dance, blending traditions and references of the two universes.
